Music Moments at the Achilleion

Music Moments at the Achilleion continues into the first week of September, bringing live performances to the open spaces of one of Corfu’s most famous historic landmarks.
The Achilleion was created for Empress Elisabeth of Austria, better known as Sisi, and its gardens and neoclassical architecture provide a beautiful setting for live music.
Individual performance times and access arrangements may vary, so check the published programme before visiting.
Pyx Lax Live at Astrakeri Beach
Date: Tuesday 1 September 2026
Location: Astrakeri Beach, Karousades
Best for: Live Greek music, beachfront atmosphere and visitors staying in north Corfu
Popular Greek rock band Pyx Lax will perform live at Astrakeri Beach on 1 September.
Organised by the Karousades Cultural Association, the concert promises an energetic evening of well-known Greek songs in a memorable beachfront setting.
Astrakeri is particularly convenient for visitors staying in Roda, Sidari, Acharavi, Karousades and other parts of northern Corfu. Allow additional travelling and parking time because the area is likely to be busy.
Greek Nights in Sidari
Dates: Tuesday 1, Thursday 3 and Monday 7 September 2026
Time: 9:00pm–11:00pm
Location: Canal d’Amour, Sidari
Best for: Couples, families, groups and north Corfu holidays
Sidari’s regular Greek nights continue into the first week of September.
Expect an entertaining evening of Greek music, dancing and holiday atmosphere close to the famous Canal d’Amour. The events are easy to combine with dinner or sunset drinks in Sidari.
The final currently advertised evening is Monday 7 September.
Jazz in the Heart of Corfu

Location: Corfu Town
Best for: Couples, music lovers and atmospheric evenings in the Old Town
Live jazz and local storytelling continue in the historic heart of Corfu Town every Tuesday throughout September.
The combination of live music and stories about Corfu makes this more than an ordinary jazz performance. It is a lovely choice for visitors looking for a relaxed evening away from the island’s larger entertainment venues.
The final scheduled performance of the 2026 season takes place on Tuesday 29 September.
14th Korissos Running Race on Sand
Date: Saturday 5 September 2026
Location: Issos and the Korissos area
Best for: Runners, active holidays, spectators and nature lovers
One of September’s most unusual sporting events takes place on the sand beside the Korissos lagoon.
The Korissos race gives runners the opportunity to compete in one of Corfu’s most distinctive natural settings, surrounded by sand dunes, coastal scenery and the protected lagoon landscape.
Even if you are not participating, the event is an interesting reason to explore southwest Corfu and spend time at Issos Beach.
Traditional Panigyria on 8 September

Best for: Traditional food, local music and an authentic Corfu evening
Several Corfu communities traditionally celebrate the Nativity of the Virgin Mary on 8 September.

A panigiri is a traditional religious and community celebration, often featuring live Greek or Ionian music, dancing, grilled food, local dishes and drinks.
They generally begin later in the evening and continue into the night. Carrying some cash is advisable, particularly at smaller village celebrations.
Programmes can be announced locally at short notice, so ask at your accommodation or look for posters in the surrounding village.
Corfu Old Town Trail 2026
Date: Saturday 12 September 2026

Distances: 7km and 14km
Best for: Runners, spectators, photographers and visitors staying in Corfu Town
The 12th Corfu Old Town Trail takes runners through the historic streets, alleyways and landmarks of the UNESCO-listed Old Town.
Both the 7km and 14km routes start and finish in Corfu Town, combining sport with one of the island’s most atmospheric settings.
You do not need to participate to enjoy the occasion. Visitors can watch along the route and experience the energy in town, although temporary road restrictions and busier streets are possible.
Carmina Burana at the Old Fortress
Date: Saturday 12 September 2026
Location: Old Fortress, Corfu Town
Best for: Classical music, dramatic performances and unforgettable settings
Carl Orff’s monumental Carmina Burana will be performed at Corfu’s Old Fortress by the Ionian Symphony Orchestra and Ionian Conservatory.
The instantly recognisable music combined with the historic open-air setting should make this one of the cultural highlights of September.
As the Corfu Old Town Trail is taking place on the same day, Corfu Town is likely to be particularly lively. Arrive early and avoid relying on last-minute parking near the historic centre.
Feast of the Holy Cross

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is marked in Corfu on 14 September, with celebrations traditionally associated with Sidari and the Monastery of Agios Ioannis.

Corfu Literary Festival 2026

The Corfu Literary Festival returns from 21 to 27 September 2026 with a programme of talks, discussions, readings, performances and cultural events.
The festival brings together writers, historians, journalists and readers in beautiful locations across the island. Homer’s Odyssey is expected to be at the heart of the 2026 festival, making Corfu a particularly fitting setting.
Events may take place in historic buildings, gardens and other atmospheric venues. Some sessions may require advance booking, while others may be free to attend.

The Diaries of Frédéric Chopin

The Diaries of Frédéric Chopin combines live piano music with theatre to explore the life, thoughts and work of the celebrated Polish composer.
Actor Andreas Konstantinou takes the role of Chopin, while pianist Tatiana Papageorgiou performs his music.
The open-air Rena Vlachopoulou Theatre at Mon Repos provides an atmospheric setting for the production. The performance is scheduled to begin at 9:15pm, with tickets available from €18.
Traditional Celebration in Vatos

Best for: Village traditions and visitors staying in central or west Corfu
The village of Vatos traditionally holds a celebration on 24 September.
Located close to Ermones and not far from Glyfada and Pelekas, Vatos is convenient for visitors staying on Corfu’s central west coast.

Saint John the Theologian Celebrations

Sacré Sacred Vocal Music Events

The annual Sacré programme returns at the end of September with a series of sacred vocal music performances.

Greece as a Reference Country Exhibition
Dates: Until Sunday 27 September 2026

This exhibition brings together 46 historic posters from the Greek National Tourism Organisation.
The posters show how Greece has been presented to international travellers through art, graphic design and tourism advertising. It is an especially interesting choice for anyone fascinated by vintage travel imagery or the history of Greek tourism.
The exhibition runs until 27 September, giving September visitors one final opportunity to see it.
What Is Corfu Like in September?
September still feels very much like summer in Corfu, particularly during the first half of the month.
Beaches, boat trips and outdoor dining remain popular, but the atmosphere usually becomes more relaxed as the month progresses. Evenings can feel cooler than in July and August, and occasional rain becomes more likely, so pack a light layer and a compact umbrella alongside your summer clothes.
