Moraitika and Messonghi are two neighbouring resorts on Corfu’s south-east coast, separated by the Messonghi River and often treated as one holiday area. Together, they offer a relaxed, easy and family-friendly Corfu base with beaches, tavernas, bars, boat trips, shops, water sports and good access to South Corfu.

Moraitika is the livelier and more developed of the two. It has more shops, bars, restaurants, hotels, apartments and evening atmosphere, with a long resort road and beach area below.

Messonghi feels softer, smaller and more peaceful. It has a village feel, a lovely river setting, beach restaurants, a calmer seafront and easy boat-trip options from the river area.

The best thing about staying here is that you do not really have to choose between them. Moraitika and Messonghi are close enough to walk between, so you can stay in one and enjoy the other.

Choose Moraitika if you want more restaurants, bars, shops and a livelier resort feel.

Choose Messonghi if you want a quieter, more relaxed beach village with riverside charm.

Choose either if you want a practical south-east Corfu base with calm water, easy beach days and good access to Benitses, Boukari, Petriti, Issos, Lake Korission, Kavos and Corfu Town.
