Dog-Friendly Beaches in Corfu
🐾 Where to Swim, Walk & Relax with Your Dog + Local Rules & Tips
Thinking of bringing your dog to Corfu?
Honestly… great decision.
Corfu is one of the most dog-friendly Greek islands I’ve ever experienced. You’ll regularly see locals walking their dogs along the shore, splashing in the sea, or snoozing under a beach umbrella.
If you’re travelling with your four-legged best friend (like I do with mine 🐶), this guide covers:
✔ the local rules
✔ beach etiquette
✔ and the best dog-friendly beaches to visit
So you can relax and enjoy stress-free beach days together.
🐶 Are Dogs Allowed on Beaches in Corfu? (Quick Guide)
Yes — mostly!
Dogs are generally allowed on many beaches in Corfu, especially natural and unorganised ones. They can swim in the sea just like people do, and it’s very normal to see dogs enjoying the beach year-round.
But there are a few simple rules and bits of etiquette to know first.
🐾 Laws & Common Practice
✔ Unorganised (wild/public) beaches
Dogs are legally allowed and very common here.
These are the easiest and most relaxed spots for beach days.
🐾 Leash rules
Keep dogs on a leash on land unless very well trained
Always bring poop bags
Clean up after them
Standard good-human behaviour stuff 🙂
Blue Flag beaches
Official Blue Flag beaches sometimes prohibit dogs on the sand or in the water (except assistance dogs).
There are usually signs — if unsure, ask locally.
Organised resort beaches
Beaches with:
sunbeds
umbrellas
bars or beach clubs
Rules vary depending on the operator.
Sometimes dogs are welcome, sometimes not — a quick polite ask usually works wonders.
☀️ Quick Etiquette Tips
These make everything easier:
✔ Visit early morning or sunset (cooler & quieter)
✔ Bring shade and lots of water
✔ Stick to quieter areas
✔ Keep dogs close if busy
✔ Respect other beachgoers
Locals are very dog-friendly — courtesy goes a long way.
🏖️ Best Dog-Friendly Beaches in Corfu
Here are some of the best beaches where dogs regularly enjoy swimming and exploring.
🌊 Issos Beach (South Corfu)
Best for: Freedom & space to run
This one’s a dream.
Huge stretch of sand, dunes, hardly any development — basically endless space.
Perfect for:
✔ energetic dogs
✔ long walks
✔ off-lead play (when quiet)
One of the easiest, most relaxed dog beaches on the island.
Tip: bring water and shade — facilities are limited.
🌴 Halikounas Beach
Best for: Quiet nature vibes
Right next to Issos but even calmer.
Peaceful, wild and rarely crowded. Ideal if you want:
quiet swims
sunset walks
a totally natural setting
Feels like you’ve got the whole beach to yourself.
🌅 Agios Gordios (West Coast)
Best for: Long sandy walks & sunsets
A big sandy bay with loads of room.
Head toward the edges of the beach away from the main sunbeds for the most dog-friendly spots.
Great mix of:
✔ facilities nearby
✔ space to roam
✔ beautiful sunsets
🌿 Arillas Beach (North West)
Best for: Relaxed village vibe
Shallow, calm water and a super chilled atmosphere.
Perfect for:
older dogs
nervous swimmers
slow, easy beach days
Plus lots of cafés nearby that are happy to have dogs chilling beside your table.
🏞️ Agios Georgios Pagon
Best for: Scenic walks
One of the prettier beaches on the island with mountains behind it.
Long bay = lots of quieter corners to settle in.
Beautiful for morning or evening walks.
🐕 Other beaches locals often use with dogs
You’ll also hear good things about:
Paradise Beach
Arkoudilas
Agia Triada
Agios Petros
Generally, the rule is simple: the more natural and less organised the beach, the easier it is with dogs.

❤️ Final Thoughts
Some of my favourite Corfu memories aren’t fancy ones — they’re simple:
Warm sand, calm sea, and my dogs padding along the shoreline beside me.
Corfu really is a wonderful island for dog lovers. With so many open, natural beaches, it’s easy to create relaxed, happy days together.
If you’re travelling with your pup, you’re going to feel right at home here.
