Corfu is an island rich in tradition, religion, music, and local festivals. Throughout the year, villages and towns across Corfu celebrate saints’ days, national holidays, food festivals, and cultural events that offer visitors a wonderful insight into Corfiot life.
Below is a month-by-month guide to the main events and celebrations held across the island.
January
01 January – Feast of St Basil (Agios Vasilis), New Year celebration.
06 January – Epiphany / Theophany (Blessing of the Waters).

April – May (Easter & Spring Celebrations)
April–May – Orthodox Easter celebrations (this year falls on Sunday 12 April 2026) — Corfu’s Holy Week and Easter traditions are world-famous, beginning with Palm Sunday and including unique local customs like pot-smashing (Botides) and philharmonic band processions.
Easter Monday 2026 is 13 April.
