Corfu in Winter

Corfu is best known for its summer sunshine, but winter on the island offers something very different — and surprisingly special. January and February are the quietest months, perfect for travellers who prefer calm, authenticity, and a slower pace.

During winter, Corfu feels like a real Greek island, not a tourist resort. Locals reclaim Corfu Old Town, cafés are relaxed, and the countryside turns lush and green after seasonal rain.

What’s open in winter?

  • Cafés, bakeries, and tavernas used by locals

  • Supermarkets and pharmacies

  • Museums and historic sites (with reduced hours)

  • Public transport (reduced but reliable — see our bus guides below)

To get around in winter without a car, read:

Winter isn’t about beaches — it’s about culture, food, nature, and atmosphere.
